Thrifty Turkey Curry (Slow cooker)

I have a confession...I'm a Lidl half price weekend addict! You'll find me in the carpark, twenty minutes before opening time, clutching my list, pound and bags, ready to pounce on this weeks great deals.

I don't normally buy turkey breast (we aren't huge meat eaters), but last week the turkey breasts were half price. Three breasts for £1.29 - they were substantial too!

Serves 4, 67.5p per portion

I realise no Masterchef contestants are quaking in their boots over my presentation skills, but I promise it really was delicious!

Splash of oil - 3p
One onion, chopped - 5p
Two cloves of garlic, minced - 5p
Two tablespoons curry powder - 2p
Three turkey breasts cut into strips - £1.29
4 carrots, cut into thick chunks - 30p
Stock cube - 3p
Half a creamed coconut block - 68p

250g basmati rice - 25p

Fry the onion until translucent. Add the garlic, curry powder and turkey and cook until the turkey browns slightly. Add the carrots, stock cube, coconut and just enough water to cover. Cook on low for about 6 hours.

If making for adults, or adventurous children, add a fresh chilli or scattering of coriander from your garden.
