I've started this blog to document my gardening journey. We live in a small semi detached Victorian house, with a slim South(ish) facing garden. I'm a gardening novice, but this year we're digging up our lawn and giving it a go!
I'd love an allotment, but until my local council addresses it's horrendous waiting lists and actually provides some more growing space, this is what I have to work with:
A small patio
Some raised beds (soon to spring from my sad lawn)
A "blowaway" cheap unheated greenhouse
My dining room windowsill
This is what I'd like to grow this summer:
Summer crookneck squash
A variety of herbs
Perhaps a little adventurous for a novice, no? However, I'm trying to go at this with a positive attitude. I love being outside. Any crops that fail will teach us something, anything we actually manage to eat will delight me enormously!
On a more personal note, I've been feeling quite down, unmotivated and frustrated lately. I love being outdoors, I love food and I love nature. I'm hoping that getting away from screens (she says, staring at one), getting outdoors and growing my own organic produce will help with that.
